After working on individual skills, we’ll take a macro approach and see how all aspects of your life are working together. Are you taking time for your health? How is life on the home front — both in terms of relationships and your physical environment? How is your work and/or academic life? Most importantly, are you happy with your progress, growing in confidence and content with where you’re at?
Balance can be a real challenge for someone with ADHD, as we can tend to neglect or avoid what overwhelms us while binging on what we enjoy. As part of healthy executive function involves the ability to monitor ourselves and assess our progress, this holistic look can prepare us for periodically doing these macro/whole-life check-ins moving forward.
